This notebook was not designed as merchandise. It was extracted, page by page, from the screenplay of The Summer We Saw Margaret. In the film, it is the object on Walt's shelf — the unfinished atlas of seven seas that Eleanor left behind, and the commission a six-year-old boy inherits in Act III. Every plate in this facsimile corresponds to a beat of the script; the half-painted whale of Mumbai is the story's inciting silence; the plates that hang in this room are the ones a family stands before in Act IV. The film and the object were written together — which is why neither feels like an accessory to the other.
"She got as far as the big one." — W.
A5 cloth-bound facsimile of the film's central prop. ~88 pages in three movements: Eleanor's finished seabird plates, her unfinished atlas of the seven seas, and the new keeper's pages. Seven seal die-cuts linked to Miru's Ocean Atlas — the studio's EdTech property, available for licensing to schools and families under separate negotiation. Diploma pocket, four printed ephemera inserts. Collector object and guided field journal — two retail shelves at once.
License, not production. IP Frontier Studio licenses publishing and manufacturing rights; the licensee produces under studio art direction. Standard terms: advance + 8–10% royalty, studio approval rights on materials and print quality, 18–24 month reversion clause.
The digital facsimile demonstrates every page type and the complete emotional arc; the full 88-page pagination map is delivered on signature, with remaining art finished under studio direction as part of the licensing agreement.
Core edition $29.99–34.99. Collector's boxed edition — wax-seal kit, numbered — $49.99–59.99.
Premium gift & stationery publishers; children's publishers with novelty and gift divisions; museum retail groups.
Museum and aquarium gift shops — the seven real aquariums of the Atlas form a natural retail circuit — independent bookshops, premium gift retail, D2C synchronized with the film. Launches pre-film as a standalone; collector reprint at release.
Rights licensed under Model B — studio licenses, publisher produces under studio approval. Bundled or separable. Standard terms: advance + royalties, approval rights, 18–24 month reversion.
Full architecture, chapter arc and sample illustrated plates of every title are available under NDA — the map above is an inventory, not a promise.
A gray whale travels the longest road in the sea and comes back every summer. Shapes, rhythm, and one white mark to find on every page. The brand's entry door for the youngest sibling.
Thirty-eight years of seabirds, painted and annotated by a naturalist who timed cormorants and argued with oystercatchers — until the day a gray whale breached off the point and her brush changed forever. Ends where the film begins.
A merchant sailor takes the quietest job on the coast and finds the loudest love of his life. The Society of two, the dog named Captain, and the notebook left on a shelf.
The official adaptation, synchronized with release: a boy, a tired mother, a ferry into the fog, and the whale who knew Eleanor.
Development art, the signal that started it, Eleanor's plates at full size.
Eleanor's Notebook (facsimile field journal) reaches market separately via the gift & stationery licence — see the panel above. One canon, two shelves, zero overlap.
